SME JumpStart Pos Malaysia: When the Business Owner Changes, the Business Changes

Yesterday, I joined entrepreneurs at SME JumpStart, organised by Pos Malaysia with RichWorks Consulting Group (RCG) as strategic partner.

I shared what it takes to bring a business to the next level and build one that can grow without being overly dependent on the founder.

I chose to speak about one fundamental thing: transformation.

Before we talk about transforming a business, we must first be willing to transform ourselves.

I shared my own journey from 136kg to 76kg. It was not easy, and it certainly did not happen overnight. It required clarity on why I needed to change, a decision to change, and the discipline to go through the process.

Business is no different.

The Business Owner is the driver of the business. If the driver does not change, the thinking does not change and the decisions remain the same, we cannot expect the business to produce different results.

That is why clarity matters. We need to know what we want to achieve, why it matters, and what must change to get there.

I also spoke about the importance of building our owned media.

Before relying too heavily on paid media or hoping others will talk about us through earned media, we must make better use of what we already own.

Our content. Our database. Our community. Our platforms.

Build trust. Show results. Give value consistently.

I was glad to see some of these points echoed by fellow panelists in the sessions that followed. Many SMEs face the same challenge: strengthening the foundation before trying to scale further.

I had to leave earlier for an afternoon meeting, but I was informed that the engagement remained encouraging, with entrepreneurs wanting to understand how @RichWorks Consulting Group (RCG) can support their growth journey.

As part of that commitment, RCG is sponsoring close to RM50,000 in development support for 10 selected entrepreneurs.

Five will receive three months of SPIRE Mentoring, while another five will receive access to a two-day Private Group Coaching programme this month.

This is more than a prize. It is an opportunity to gain clarity, guidance and support for the next step in business.

SME JumpStart also marks the beginning of a collaboration between RCG and Pos Malaysia.

Insha-Allah, I believe there is much more we can explore together, from dedicated SME development sessions to wider initiatives in more locations.

Thank you @Pos Malaysia for creating the space for RCG to contribute to the SME community. It was also good to meet @Charles Brewer @Charles William from Pos Malaysia and @Dr Mohamad Yusman from Unifi Business.

Meaningful business transformation begins when the Business Owner is willing to transform first.

Transform the person, and you begin to transform the business.
