Yesterday, on the second day of Module 1 of the Executive Master in Change at INSEAD Singapore, I stopped by the INSEAD bookshop. One title immediately caught my attention: The Phoenix Encounter Method: Lead Like Your Business Is on Fire!
The title made me think. Leading your business as if it is on fire does not mean leading in panic. To me, it is a reminder that when a business faces change and challenges, leaders must act with urgency, question old ways of doing things and find the courage to rise again.
It also made me ask myself: Are we driving our businesses with the hunger to keep growing, or have we become “full” from the success we have already achieved?
Hunger keeps us learning, experimenting and looking for new opportunities. But when we become too comfortable, the very success that brought us this far can stop us from changing.
