Why do I do what I do?

For the past three weeks I’ve been in Sydney and going back and forth to Singapore to study at SMU and INSEAD. I’ll still be travelling a lot for my studies over the next few months and years, possibly until 2029.

I’m excited about everything I’m learning. But I’m only human. Some days I’m tired. Some days I miss home and I wonder whether I’ve spent enough time with my family.

Then I look at this photo with Uthman, my youngest, who is eight. He’s laughing in my arms. Moments like this remind me that behind all the big plans, there are small things I don’t want to miss.

I want all seven of my children to see their father still learning, still trying, still improving himself, no matter how old he is. I want to be an inspiration to them through the way I live my life. And I want them to know that I love them, however busy this journey gets.

Today I’m back sitting in meetings. Tomorrow is a big day for us at RichWorks, insya-Allah.

After 18 years, we’re leaving the RichWorks shoplot office on Jalan Badminton, Seksyen 13, Shah Alam. That’s where we started. That’s where we built the team, went through all kinds of challenges and slowly grew RichWorks. So many memories in that place, and I’ll always be grateful we once called it home.

Starting tomorrow, we’ll be operating from our new headquarters, RichQ, on the 29th floor of Menara Mercu Maybank, Seksyen 7, Shah Alam. Alhamdulillah, the whole floor is now RichWorks’ new home. We want to make it the SME development hub in Malaysia and the headquarters for our expansion into ASEAN, insya-Allah.

When I think about Uthman, my children, and everyone who has built RichWorks with me, I remember again why I keep going. I want to keep learning so I can lead better, build something that benefits people, and one day watch the generation after us take it further.

When you feel tired, ask yourself: Why did you start? And who makes you want to keep going?
